Loan Origination Process
Maintain a current loan origination certification and oversee the
full loan origination process for each Habitat homeowner, including
sending required disclosures within regulatory timeframes
Ensure all loan and program applications comply with Habitat for
Humanity policies, as well as state and federal regulations,
including the Fair Housing Act
Coordinate and manage the application cycles for the Homebuyer and
Home Repair programs, including family recruitment, responding to
inquiries, and working with the Family Education Coordinator to
support ineligible applicants for future consideration
Serve as the key decision-maker for assessing financial need during
the homeowner selection process and provide final loan
underwriting
Oversee the mortgage closing process to ensure full compliance with
applicable laws and policies
Conduct outreach to inform the community about Habitat
opportunities, using both personal engagement and printed materials
to reach diverse and potentially eligible populations
Program Oversight and Family Engagement
Collaborate with internal departments to align available lots, home
design, and sweat equity requirements with family needs and Habitat
policies
Develop and implement high-quality family education programs that
promote self-sufficiency and address the specific needs of local
Habitat homeowners
Ensure homeowner case management and support services align with
established procedures, regulations, and Habitat's mission and
strategic goals
Oversee the planning and scheduling of open enrollment meetings,
community outreach activities, and volunteer home visits
Manage the application process during open enrollment, ensuring
assessments follow established criteria and procedures
Ensure program materials are up-to-date and accessible, including
translations as needed
Communicate family selection outcomes to staff and the board,
including approved and selected families
Create and manage classes and curriculum for homeowners on relevant
homeownership and finance topics
Provide information, referral and counseling to families in need
(post purchase)
Leadership and Administrative Responsibilities
As a member of the leadership team, contribute to the development
of the organization's strategic priorities and objectives, with a
focus on affordable housing strategies and solutions for
homeowners. Represent the Family Services perspective in key
organizational decisions
Develop departmental policies and procedures and ensure staff are
trained on the appropriate tools and practices
Coach and mentor team members, providing opportunities for
professional growth and development
Develop and manage the department budget and annual operations plan
for family services programs
Support research and negotiation for down payment assistance
opportunities
Assist in preparing documentation, data, and reports for grants
related to family programming
Attend offsite meetings and participate in home dedications as
needed
Perform other duties as assigned
Support Standing Committee
Collaborate with the committee chair to schedule meetings, set
agendas, share updates, and provide relevant data and analysis for
policy discussions
Promote the committee's work in the community to help recruit new
volunteers if needed
Coordinate with the Volunteer Engagement Director to onboard and
train new Family Selection Committee members
Maintain accurate meeting notes and ensure proper documentation of
committee policies and procedures
Requirements:This individual must understand and appreciate the
mission of HFH. Above average written and verbal communication
skills required; public speaking experience preferred. Qualified
candidates should demonstrate excellent organizational skills and
possess a strong attention to detail.
Must be able to communicate effectively and deal tactfully with all
kinds of individuals yet remain consistent in keeping a
professional demeanor. Should also possess the ability and patience
to teach and work with new and pending homeowners. Share our
organizational values of working hard, valuing teamwork and being
accountable with professionalism and integrity.
Physical Demands
Occasional lifting and carrying of items from floor to waist
weighing up to 20 pounds.
Experience
A minimum of 3-5 years of related experience required. Must possess
strong computer skills in Outlook and MS Office (particularly Word
and Excel), and excellent skills in PowerPoint. Ability to speak
Spanish a plus.
Education
BA or BS required, preferably in Social Work, Finance, Management,
Administration and/or Real Estate or equivalent experience.
Certificates, Licenses and Registrations
Must meet annual requirement of HFHI Qualified Loan Originator.
